We were looking for a place to have fish/seafood today while we were in Reno. I found this restaurant on yelp, of course. Not only was it appealing for the menu, but southern cooking is full of memories for us because my husband's parents were from Arkansas. my father-in-law fried, the best fried fish, and my mother-in-law made lots of wonderful southern dishes. I had the shrimp Poboy and a side order of chicken gizzards. I chose potato salad for my side with the sandwich. My husband ordered the catfish with two side dishes. He chose okra and potato salad. oh my gosh, there was a ton of food on the plates. And it was all very delicious and evoked so many memories. The service was wonderful. Oh, and the drinks were huge mason jars full. I couldn't even finish all of my water, but my husband did finish his lemonade. The only issue I have with my sandwich was that it was messy to eat. I ended up taking it apart and making a salad out of the inside. Definitely a place to remember.
This is one of the best fried chickens I had in awhile. My first time having collard greens, and the cornbread added the perfect touch. They also had my favorite hot sauce, Louisiana's original hot sauce. Worth the price.
Everything was so yummy. Especially the oxtails and flat beignets were crazy good. Our waitress was super friendly. Food takes a little long to get to your table but that's only cause it's freshly made
Ok so the wife and I were looking for some where to go to lunch. Found this gem and we were both glad we did. The place was busy I know why. The staff was super friendly and had a cool vibe. The food was so good and well seasoned. The fish was so yummy and so were the ribs. The fried oysters were good along with the hush puppies. Collard greens were some of the best I have had. We definitely will be back to this place and bring some friends.
This place is too good to be true! The food is southern soul food style that has flavor and richness! The service is always pleasant they are very lovely! The environment to me is a traditional cafe with a twist and it shows all over! I got the bbq rib dinner with Mac n cheese which omg the sides are to die for haha. Come check them out! Been here twice now and the food is always delicious! Oh wait I also got their lemon cake and wow oh wow so soft and sweet and yummy and it was homemade!!! Please run here!
Ordered take out for the first time and... wow.. can't get any better for Southern food. All super friendly inside, and great portion for catfish po boy! Hushpuppies were good too and... alligator stick was interesting, but good. Such a big menu, I'll return again!
Our first time here. What a great place! South Reno don't miss this - so worth the drive!!! ! I think fried food is an art (if done properly). ...I love okra and then fried okra (if not mushy)...the best fried Okra ever! My husband got the BBQ hotlinks sandwich with red beans and rice..I got the fried fish basket with coleslaw and ala cart fried Okra. The hush puppies were perfect too. And oh those sides..perfect! The food although fried was not oily or burned. That's a tough balance and they have it here. If this restaurant can do fried Okra to perfection I'll be back to try other choices on this fun and bit wild menu. Also as stated, every side was delightful and the perfect balance of sweet- savory. Highly recommend! My cheat meal day - yum! They also do catering! What a fun menu for a party!
Awesome lunch! So glad we checked it out. Great service. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak (the best I've ever had) with collard greens and the red beans & rice. The Sweet Tea was awesome too! My friend ordered the seafood gumbo and loved it. So many other things that I want to try so we'll definitely be back.
I've been to M&M's at least 5 times both to go, food truck, and at dine in. I always eat the food before i can take a picture. I used to live in Texas and North Carolina so I miss soul food a lot. One of my go to items is there catfish, the breading is perfect and the fish is flavorful and not greasy. I've gotten their fried chicken dinner as well which is delish. I'm not a fan of the mac but their yams and red beans and rice are my favorites. I had a shrimp po'boy which was full of large fried to perfection shrimp. Service is always friendly and warm. The inside of the restaurant reminds me of my grandpa's shack in Texas .
Looking for excellent Southern fare then look no further than here. Great smoked ribs, great fried okra, and excellent collard greens. Service was fast and seating area enough for 7-8 groups inside . Take out available and they also cater.
